Animal Heroes

Animal Heroes
15 x 5 min or 30 x 2 min. Cartoons.
Each episode is created by a different British young illustrator, cartoonist or graphic artist and show the way they see their animal friends. Their films are sparkling diverse and infectiously high spirited and are based on the recipients of Dickin Medal given to animals for bravery (1992).

The British have always been crazy about animals – and animals have returned the compliment. The activities of certain animals during the second world war inspired Mrs M E Dicken to establish an award for bravery specifically for animals. The Dickin Medal was awarded to 31 pigeons, 18 dogs, 3 horses and 1 cat during the course of the war.

The British have continued to reward their courage ever since. The 30x2 minutes cartoons tell some of these stories, as well as more recent tales of animal heroism. Some show great courage, some tremendous devotion to duty, whilst other simply demonstrate selfless acts of bravery.
